Does the universe look the same if we study it through a mirror? Does the universe look the same if we let time evolve backwards? Does the universe look the same if change all matter with antimatter and vice versa? I will give a pedagogical introduction to how the answers to these questions dramatically have changed our understanding of the universe in the last 60 years.
