Outreach & Prizes

• Angels & Demons. CP3-Origins participated in presenting the science behind the movie Angels & Demons in October.
• The CP3-Genius Program was launched in January.
• Oticon Scholarhip. Ulrik Ishøj Søndergaard was awarded the Oticon Scholarship in January.
• Elite Researcher Prize. Francesco Sannino received the Elite Researcher Prize in January.
• High school visit. Students from Tornbjerg Gymnasium visited us as part of the CP3-Genius Program in February.

Visitors

• Joe Schechter visited CP3-Origins from the start-up of the centre in August until December. Schechter is from Syracuse University and mainly does research in effective Lagrangians, Gauge theories, neutrinos, scalar mesons, and weak interactions.
• Paul Hoyer is currently visiting CP3-Origins for five months until June. Hoyer is from Helsinki University and is mainly interested in hard QCD Dynamics and QCD Bound States.

• Master students: In September, Jakob Jark Jørgensen, Matin Mojaza, and Ulrik Ishøj Søndergaard signed up to write their Master Thesis at CP3-Origins.
• Kimmo Tuominen started as Assistant Professor in September.
• Stefano Di Chiara started as Post Doc in September.
• Jacopo Bechi left CP3-Origins in December.
• CP3-Genius Students: In January, Karin Dissauer and Martin Zangenberg started as the first CP3-Genius Program students.
• Two new Ph.D. Students: Eugenio Del Nobile and Tuomas Hapola started as Ph.D. Students in February.
• Claudio Pica started as Assistant Professor in February.
• Hidenori Sakuma Fukano left CP3-Origins at the end of February.

Events at CP3-Origins

• The CP3-Origins Inauguration took place in November 2009.
• Origin of Mass Mini Workshop immediately followed the inauguration.
• The 2nd Winter School on Geometry and Theoretical Physics in November was co-hosted by CP3-Origins.
• Furthermore, we have had 10 CP3-Lectures with guest visits from many prominent researchers; we have had 12 Journal Club meetings. Most of these meetings have been recorded and can be seen on our web page.

One interesting article (1002.4137) on dark matter recently submitted to the arxiv will be briefly presented for further discussion. More articles will be introduced and discussed during the journal club.

We summarize the phase diagrams of SU, SO and Sp gauge theories as function of the number of flavors, colors, and matter representation as well as the ones of phenomenologically relevant chiral gauge theories such as the Bars-Yankielowicz and the generalized Georgi-Glashow models. We finally report on the intriguing possibility of the existence of gauge-duals for nonsupersymmetric gauge theories and the impact on their conformal window.

The Centre for Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) and the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense invite applications for an Assistant Professor position in particle physics phenomenology for collider physics and cosmology.

We are looking for outstanding young and competitive researchers who have already demonstrated their potential to excel in particle physics phenomenology. Candidates should have experience in developing models for physics beyond the standard model, possibly with links to dark matter, and be able to make quantitative predictions for collider experiments and cosmology.

I will talk (using speech synthesis) about the recent paper hep-th/0911.2417 (by Tirziu and Tseytlin), on strings with 2 spins in AdS_5. This paper is closely related to our 6 year old paper hep-th/0312184 (by Khan and ALL). First, I will give an introduction to string theory in curved spacetime. Then I will give a short introduction to the Maldacena Conjecture in the most well investigated case AdS(5)xS(5). Then I will go through the paper and finally have some conclusions and outlook.
