It is well known that if supersymmetry has a role in nature then it should be (spontaneously) broken. In this lecture, a series of results related to the classical breaking of supersymmetry will be first given and analyzed and, then, after the exposition of the perturbative non-renormalization theorem, a few comments on dynamical supersymmetry breaking will be done; finally, some relevant phenomenological applications will be considered.
