Neutrino oscillation experiments have shown that neutrinos have non-zero masses. However, we do not know yet whether neutrinos are Majorana or Dirac particles. After a brief overview over the current experimental status of neutrino data, Majorana neutrino masses are described. Majorana neutrinos are intimately related to lepton number violation. Thus, in this talk also searches for neutrinoless double beta decay and searches for lepton number violation at the LHC are discussed.
