Aspects of Quantum Gauge Theories: From Confinement to the Conformal Window

In different phases of gauge theories the quantum equation of motion for the gauge boson propagator is dominated by different terms. For several gauge choices it is shown how this can be exploited to distinguish a Higgs from a confinement phase. Recent solutions of systems of Dyson-Schwinger equations for propagators, the three-gluon and the quark-gluon vertex are discussed. An exploratory study of propagators and the running coupling in the conformal window  is presented.
