First Part: Observations of large scale magnetic fields

We will discuss different observational methods to detect magnetic fields
at galactic and extra galactic scales.

Second Part: Generation of primordial magnetic fields

We will present a critical discussion of different generation mechanisms of large scale magnetic fields in the early universe.

Third Part: Effects of cosmic magnetic fields on the cosmic microwave background

We will discuss cosmological perturbation theory in the presence of a stochastic magnetic field and the calculation of the temperature anisotropies and polarization of the cosmic microwave background as well as the linear matter power spectrum.
